About us
The Natural Park in a few words
The Natural Park Hautes Fagnes - Eifel constitutes without any doubt one of the most beautiful regions in Belgium. He is part of a german-belgian natural park and situated in East-Belgium. Discover the diversity of his landscapes, the quality of his environment and his nature and his natural and cultural history.
Landscape
Beside his jewel, the State Natural Reserve High - Venn, he offers different landscapes made of forest massifs, valleys, rivers, meadows, ridges and pictorial villages.
For more information visit our german-belgian website: naturpark-hohesvenn-eifel.de. There, you'll find all general informations about the landscapes and many more. Or better: Pay us a visit...!
His Nature Center
The Nature Center of Botrange is situated on the brink of the State Nature Reserve. He is therefore a good starting point to discover the landscape of turf moors and heathers. You can get trail maps from us or profit from our different offers: guided walks, ride on our char-à-bancs, exhibitions, ...
His organisation
The Natural Park's organising institution is the province of Liège. The latter took the initiative of his creation in 1971 in collaboration with North Rhine-Westphalia and Rhineland-Palatinate.
The Natural Park stretches across 12 communes. Because of the fact that natural and landscape elements have drawn his borders, no commune is entirely in the park.
The 12 communes are (from north to south): Raeren, Eupen, Baelen, Jalhay, Stavelot, Malmedy, Waimes, Bütgenbach, Büllingen, Amel, Sankt Vith, Reuland.
The Natural Park is managed by an administrating commission which creates an operating plan and controls his realization.
